Experiential Kinesiology™
Revolutionary Massage Education You Can Feel

The Boulder College of Massage Therapy is solidifying its status as the world leader in massage therapy education with the addition of its new Experiential Kinesiology™ (EK) Program starting in the Winter quarter of 2008. The EK Program, which is the only one of its kind in existence, will combine the latest scientific research on joint and muscle function with the practical applications of massage, body mechanics and client education.

As the foundation of our 1000-Hour Certification, the EK Program and its renowned instructors will weave its entire curriculum together and revolutionize the way massage therapy is taught and used to treat a client’s entire being. The first half of the program will be devoted to critically examining the connections between muscle and joint patterns, postural patterns and the emotional, physical and mental trauma that can affect these patterns and disrupt the healthy balance of the body. Using this depth of knowledge, students will then learn the problem-solving techniques needed to achieve structural balance within their own bodies, and how to use their healthy patterns of posture and body mechanics as a model to holistically treat their clients.

This cutting-edge approach to massage therapy education will teach students kinesiology in a way they can both logically understand and actually feel. It will provide immediate benefits to them and their clients, helping them embody and maintain health of body, mind and spirit.

EK Program Objectives

  • To provide a holistic approach of structural integrity within whole-body patterns of movement and posture, specifically as they relate to neuro-musculo-skeletal patterns.
  • To provide movement exercises that encourage embodiment of healthy body patterns, provide self-care skills, and present efficiency in body mechanics.
  • To integrate experiential learning with cognitive learning in the study of whole body patterns of alignment and motion.
  • To present a progressive, transformational study of posture and movement that integrates the modalities and improves the continuity of the BCMT program.
  • To improve problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • To provide observation, assessment, and clinical tools for improving posture and movement.
  • To provide clinical applications for a holistic approach to neuromuscular bodywork and client education.
