scholarships

BCMT encourages students to seek out the many scholarship opportunities available to them. To support your success in winning scholarships, we have created a Scholarship Starter Kit. Please contact admissions for a complimentary copy.

What is a scholarship?
A scholarship is money given to students to ensure their success financially throughout their education. Unlike loans, scholarships are gift aid. They do not have to be paid back. Additionally, scholarships are not linked to student loans. You can apply for scholarships throughout your entire school career.

Who is eligible?
No matter who you are you can find, apply and win scholarships. A high GPA isn’t the only criteria that will earn you a scholarship.

Scholarships can be:

  • Merit-based: These awards are based on a student's athletic, academic, artistic or other abilities, as well as an applicant's community service.
  •  Need-based: These awards are based on the student and family's financial record and sometimes require applicants to fill out a FAFSA.
  •  Student-specific: These are scholarships where applicants must initially qualify by race, gender, religion, disabilities, and medical history, or other student-specific factors.
  •  Career-specific: These are scholarships awarded by a college or university to students planning to pursue a specific field of study, returning students, or students advancing previous careers.
  • Other: These scholarships are based on essays, letters of recommendations, and personal appeal. Many of them are memorial scholarships, drawings, video contests or online applications.
