BCMT: A Premier Massage School
The Boulder College of Massage Therapy (BCMT) is internationally recognized as one of the premiere massage schools in the U.S. This is due not only to our challenging curriculum and excellent faculty, but also to our location in beautiful Boulder, CO, a renowned mecca for holistic healing professionals and educators . As a non-profit massage school, our philosophy is to provide students with the diverse, hands-on experience they need to develop successful careers, while consistently giving back to our community through the healing power of touch.
In attending our most recent student graduation, I was reminded of all that makes this program so comprehensive and powerful. Students at BCMT have a total of 515 hours of experience learning hands-on massage modalities. They have an in-depth education in the human sciences totaling 180 hours. There is a unique thread of movement and experiential kinesiology classes accounting for 110 hours of instruction. 60 hours of courses focusing on Client Communication Skills, Ethics, and the Psychosocial Aspects of Touch, prepare students to develop effective therapeutic relationships with their their clients. In addition, the 1,000 hour Massage Certificate Program is designed to prepare students to practice in the massage field through 135 hours of career preparation. Wow! Many students graduate with even more hours by taking additional elective classes. It is no wonder that we often hear from clients who say they can “feel the difference”.

Ryoko Isobe
At this graduation, I had the priviledge of presenting the Honora Lee Wolfe Community Service Award. This is an award given in recognition of the student who has displayed outstanding dedication in providing massage to the community while here at BCMT. This award is named for one of our school’s founders. Among many other contributions, Ms. Wolfe was instrumental in obtaining vocational licensing with the state board, gaining our 501 c3 non-profit status and in working with the Department of Justice so international students can attend our school.
This most recent recipient of the Honora Lee Wolfe Community Service Award is Ryoko Isobe. Although 45 hours of Service Learning are required, Ryoko completed 152 hours. She worked with our Husky internship, The Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center, Massage For Musicians, Rally Sports High School Swim Team and The Boulder Peak Triathlon to name a few. Congratulations Ryoko! We are proud of you.
The BCMT Service Learning program gives students the opportunity to make a real difference in the community through this incredible supervised learning program. Many of our students describe their service learning opportunities as a highlight of the program.
